Ghostly Shadows... Believe or not to Believe?

This morning I was on Vanessa Morgan'a Blog and she was talking about dark shadows and quick moving shimmers forms drifting just on the outside of your vision. She talked about dark forms materializing in a darkened doorway making you feel as if your mind is playing tricks on you.
"Was that real..."
"Who is there..."
"What can it be..."
"It cannot be real."
This is what most people believe before returning to normal life and activity, but something in the back of their head still nags them. Its the reason why they keep turning around as if looking for something. Its the reason their pores raise when the room gets unusually quiet. Its the reason they do not feel to be alone anymore. Because deep inside they know they are not alone. Deep inside the inner voice in their head tells them to be careful... you are being watched!

I have had too many unexplained incidences in my lifetime not to believe. I have had too many restless nights... too many unnatural events and too many double takes not to believe. And coming from the culture I live it is always better to be safe than sorry. So when I think I see something questionable I light a few incense, say a few prays and bless my children more than necessary. Because in the end I want myself and my children to be protected, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

What do you think... do you believe in 'them'?

  1. I've had a few unexplained events in my life so far as well. I always blame my mom for working in a funeral home while pregnant with me (she did make up for the bodies). But seriously, sometimes, I do "believe" although I don't talk about it often.

  2. I believe there's more, but I'm just not sure what. I've had enough questionable experiences; there's such a fine line between coincidence and the beyond, creepy! :) Danica Martin www.danicabridgesmartin.blogspot.com

Family Traditions!!!!

If it is one thing I look forward to around this time is the Carreira's Christmas Tree Family Tradition! Founded by ME :) my sisters and my mom started visiting (or going house to house) homes to help decorate the Christmas Tree as well as decorate the home. When my son was not even a year old was when this tradition began... in my home in Port of Spain. Now 8 years later it has become a Family get together, food and drinks sharing .... and putting up the decorations. I LOVE it. Coming from a home with many siblings (3 brother and 3 sister ... most married with children) it is great when most gather and the house is filled with everyone. Lets just say it is a lot of laughs, bickering, laughs ... silent moments when our mouths are filled with food ... and then delegation on the work area. Did I mention I LOVE it. So here are some pics of the end result. My home is now filled with Christmas ... and I have to start wrapping present. :) This picture shows my mom, a...

Guardian Angel working Overtime!!

Saturday morning this occurred while I was on my way with the kids to my family's home in San Fernando. My car is the Blue Madza and my kids were in the back seat!! I had just stopped at a traffic light with 4 cars ahead of me, waiting for the lights to turn green, when the Green car smashed into me from behind.  All I can say is that we were all frightened by a loud bang from behind, and just as I turned my head to look at my kids in the back, I saw my car skidding on the wet road heading towards the car infront of me. There was no stopping and unfortunately my car struck the car infront of me :( From that point on there was alot of screaming from the kid behind, me trying to calm them, and me trying to get my husband on the phone. Even today I still cannot believe it happened. Clearly the woman who struck me from behind did not see me stopping along with the other cars, clearly she was distracted doing something else than focusing on the road. ...

She called her 'Gan'

My mother when she was a little girl, was dressed in a crown of flowers, a new dress and shoes and went to throw petals at the feet of her grandmother at the Santa Rosa Festival in Trinidad. You see her grandmother was a Carib Queen and every year they celebrated this Catholic festival in Arima, Trindad. I have never experienced this and though the Carib bloodline is being passed on through me, there is not much I can say about my heritage. In jest I would tell other who ask what I am mixed with, I would say "my people were here first... we did not arrive by boat... we were natives." But I really do not know what that really means. I do not know how to live off the land. In fact I kill all plants and animals that enter my home. I should put a sign ... "Enter at your own risk!" But I do want to understand this particular part of my ancestry. Although I am mixed with Chinese, Spanish, Scottish and Protégées, I have always been curious of the one culture that was h...
