Summer … Bugs Birthday and Bubbles

Tomorrow is the beginning of June, which means to me the beginning of the B words. Yes BBQ, Beach and Blazing sunshine… but for me my birthday falls in June, my son’s birthday is in July and my husband’s birthday is in August. So basically it is one after another. (Oh were the moneys goes!!!) Then there are the bugs. If you have air-condition and bug screens on the doors and walls you might be save. But the heat usually brings on the bugs. And the bugs usually means either you are covering every exposed part of your body with insect repellant or you are hiding indoors to get away from the annoying bites. With kids you are even more paranoid. Finally the bubbles. The bubbles from the sparking wine you might think? The bubbles from the scented bubble bath with romantic lit candles??? Nope. I am talking about the numerous amounts of kids’ bubbles solution I have to purchase to keep the kids entertained. Its bubble blowing every afternoon and sometimes in the morning too.

Wordless Wednesday

Just sit back and relax... take in the sea breeze and forget all your worries.... Enjoy! Nothing beats the cool Caribbean Breeze... Nothing beats the peace...

Respect

RESPECT - This is a word that carries so much weight. It not only affects you but everyone around you. By practicing it, this shows others who you really are and by experiencing it, this shows you the kind of person you are dealing with. In this day and age, to see someone help another person cross the street, or open a door for a stranger, or just given a passersby a friendly smile is seldom seen. As a teacher I question the quality of the students.   It do not question their academic ability, but I question them knowing right from wrong, doing what is right and behaving in an appropriate manner. By practicing respect it helps mold students and children in wholesome adult. It helps them appreciate others and show others’ that they value their presence. By showing respect it separates us from the rest of the world. Respect who you are and respect everyone’s uniqueness. Show respect and others will respect you.

Unique is Beautiful

I just read something on facebook on “Unique is Beautiful” and I realized this means so much to me. In my family we are all unique. Unique in looks, unique in the things we have accomplished and unique in who we are. We are different but we are also bonded together by love. Many people believe you only have 1 soul mate in life… I have 3. I have 3 sisters who know everything about me. I have 3 sisters who will do anything for me and I have 3 sisters who will love me unconditionally. They will accept my flaws, they will accept my hiccups and they will not criticize me. This is why when I saw that quote I instantly thought of them. So here is a picture of me (second to the left) with my sisters on my Brother’s wedding day. We wore his favorite colour and we were inseparable that night. To all you people who have a special sibling in your life, or have experience that bond with a loved one, feel blessed and privileged to have experienced it in this life time.

Understanding Dylan...

At the beginning of the year my life took a drastic turn. In January, 4 days after the new year my son Dylan started having night seizures. It was unexpected (as most of these thing are). It was traumatic (as you go through a roller-coaster rides of emotions). And it was painful (because when it happens you feel completely helpless). My son, thank God had no clue he was experiencing this, most times he woke up afterwards wanting to use the bathroom or asking "Mom why are you crying?" He was and still is a trooper. He accepted the medication we forced on him. He quietly did all the tests we had to run, and he did not object when we spent most of his initial Saturdays in a doctor's office. I could not ask for a more understanding child. It has been 5 months now and the medication he is taking has manged to curb the seizures at night. So he sleeps a little restless but not as aggressive as a seizure. (Thank God for that.) But I have noticed over time is the change in h

Ghostly Shadows... Believe or not to Believe?

This morning I was on Vanessa Morgan'a Blog and she was talking about dark shadows and quick moving shimmers forms drifting just on the outside of your vision. She talked about dark forms materializing in a darkened doorway making you feel as if your mind is playing tricks on you. "Was that real..." "Who is there..." "What can it be..." "It cannot be real." This is what most people believe before returning to normal life and activity, but something in the back of their head still nags them. Its the reason why they keep turning around as if looking for something. Its the reason their pores raise when the room gets unusually quiet. Its the reason they do not feel to be alone anymore. Because deep inside they know they are not alone. Deep inside the inner voice in their head tells them to be careful... you are being watched! I have had too many unexplained incidences in my lifetime not to believe. I have had too many restless nights... to

Weekend blues...

I know it is Friday and I thank God for that, but I really do not know how to feel about the weekend. My. Husband is in St. Kitts playing GOLF so it’s just me with the 2 kids. Now I can go south and visit my family, but other than that I cannot make any realistic plans. Sydney’s nap times are unpredictable and my son Dylan has exams next week, so I think I am stuck. I know I am going to be spending a lot of outside time with the kids… So here are a few things I am going to do to occupy them with (ideas I got from you bloggers) 1.     I am going to make a water balloon piñata. 2.     I am going to plant a few plants with glass bottles with my son. 3.     I am going to blow some bubbles with them. 4.     I am going to let them play while I try to read a book. (this one is for me)    Then we will end the night with a little movie time. Hopefully this will end with a early bedtime and giving me some rest time. Fingers crossed. I hope everyone else weekend is eventful an
These are the books I want to read.... this is from all you bloggers who post reviews of books that is really teasing me to sit, relax, enjoy and just forget the world exist for the moment!!! Wish me luck!

To much.....

At times I think I just have too much on my plate. I never have time to stop, and I cannot wait. There is always something to do How am I going to finish it all? I do not have a clue. From Monday to Friday I am always on my feet, And even thought I try, time just can be beat. I walk around trying to get things done, But at the end of the daytime time has still won. I could not find time to wash all the clothes, I could not soap the car, just wash it with the hose. I had to spend all my time, homework I had to teach, And getting to the grocery just could not be reached. “Can someone help” I want to scream. But there is usually no one to be seen. Because every is busy just like me… I need a vacation… I need to be set free.

Wordless Wednesday (Smile)

Smiles can turn your day around, It can pick you up from the ground. It can say… “Please to meet you.” Or simply … “I love you.” Share a smile with someone today, It will help them feel good in every way.

Rumble in the Jungle by Giles Andrear

"Granma read book..." "Ok Grandson what book do you want me to read?" "Rum in Jun..." Dylan would reply holding the colorful book with his little stubby fingers waving it eagerly at her.  "Again?" Granny would ask knowing it had been read every night since he came to visit. "Yes... Read it AGAIN!" This was their usual ritual every night for 10 days in Ft. Lauderdale. And it was not read only once for the night, it was read at least 3 times and then there was the discussion of each page.  It is a good book and well entertaining and captivating. The illustrations are beautiful and it is a fun read.

Confidence

You have to be stronger, you have to be braver, Stand your ground and do not waver. Believe in yourself and others will too, Show them what is right… show them what to do. Confidence is the key to success, When you think you can, I can confess, Any challenges that come your way, Will not defeat you if you stand your ground and stay. You are smart and sensible to, And always remember I believe in you. You make me proud in every way, I will love you today, tomorrow and every day.

Wrong choices = Consequences

My son’s bike got stolen this weekend, and it completely confused him. After all I have been trying to teach him about doing the right thing and making the correct choices he could not understand why it was taken. He understood it was a wrong action, he understood the person chose acted wrongly, but he wondered what consequences he was going to face. He wanted us to call the police, he wanted the police to check every house and he did not want the guy to get away with it. I was sorry he lost it, because he rides his bike everyday, but I also chose to use this as a learning lesson. I told him that although we would not get the bike back, the person who took it will eventually experience a consequence for his actions in due time. I did ask him what he thought should happen to the thief, and after some time he said… “Well his mommy should make him give it back and tell him not to do it again.” I was happy and proud of that response. In a way I saw that all my eff

It's Raining... Pitta Patta

When the rain falls something happens inside. Most people just want to cuddle up under a blanket and forget the busy day. Others like to pop popcorn and watch an old movie hidden under the blanket on the couch. Others want to sit and just watch it fall while sipping a hot cup of coffee or chocolate. I remember one of my ex boyfriend liked hearing it falling on the rooftop and smelling the wet grass. To each their own… For me I just love how dark the day gets, almost setting a mood for a cozy and love filled time. You feel as if you are the only person existing in the world as the noise of the rain cocoons you in and eliminating all external sounds. “I like it…” It washes away the dirt and the grime from the night before and leaves everything look fresh and anew. Just enjoy the rain… enjoy life’s simple pleasure of sound, smell and taste… when you do, your day just starts off right.

Little Minds Talk..

A Few Funny things the little one says…. ·       Instead of saying Mosquitoes like everyone else, my daughter says… BITEquetoes!! ·       Instead of saying milky like other normal children, my daughter says BO for bottle! ·       Instead of saying music for the Youtube account I have with her songs, my daughter say SONG! It means a lot to them when you actually stop and listen to what they say and understand them. Children just want to be understood, even if it means only understanding one word that comes out of their mouth.  The smile that accompanies the joy of being understood is … PRICELESS.
