WW... Christmas Day.

Great fun... greats smiles .... great memories... My kids really enjoyed opening their presents and spending time with the family.  I hope everyone had a great Christmas and relaxing today :)  My sister's Christmas Village - over 200 pieces and lots of fun putting up.  The tree before the kids attacked :)  Jude loving the Chelsey golf cover he got from the kids. Dylan loving the amount of presents he got this year.. clearly he was a good boy :) My first ever Village piece I got from my friend.. it actually brought tears to my eyes ... sniff sniff  My angel wearing her Rapunzel gown with doll and phone. She was in her glee.   Sydney and her cousin Charlotte checking out the new car!!

School is Closed!!!

As a teacher I really look forward to this time of year. I would finally get a chance to enjoy the Christmas season with the kids... but I had a few things to scratch off m y 'to-do' list.  1. Dylan was involved in the school's Christmas Concert, so I had to shuffle being a teacher (behind the scenes) and a parent. 2. I spent most of the weekend ... wrapping presents to close friends and family... 3. I devoted the entire Saturday to making pastels with my family (Sorry no picture yet). The thing is ... it is a tradition in our family to make flour pastel s and not the corn paste ls that most of you know about. You might be thinking "FLOUR??" but it is something 3 generations o f my family grew u p eating and we are not pass ing it onto our forth generation. It was alot of work but worth it!!! So with that out of the way I get to spend some time reading, and allowing myself the opportunity to focus on myself. My little girl is in daycare

WW - Wise words and Worthy treasures.

Here are some words of wisdoms and pictures of a few personal treasures in my life. Sometimes its good to feed the soul ... to strength your faith in yourself so no-one can make you question your life's path. And there are some treasures that... by just looking at them helps you understand your worth.. because their presence makes you feel important.

Continuing on with Tradition...

Well for those who read about my accident last week would know I missed a Saturday of decorating trees at my family's homes. So this Saturday was a 2 for one visit. we had a lot to get through with, lots of liming, lots of food and lists of decorating.  So here are a few pictures of the end result.  My sister's tree went up first and we manage to do her gallons and a snowman family. And finally we did my mom's tree... which she decided to decorate in RED!! It really is great to spend time with the family and experience  the fun together. It makes the workload less and with all the laughter... things just gets done quicker.

After this week I need some laughter...

This is something my son would enjoy reading... Take a break and enjoy!!

Guardian Angel working Overtime!!

Saturday morning this occurred while I was on my way with the kids to my family's home in San Fernando. My car is the Blue Madza and my kids were in the back seat!! I had just stopped at a traffic light with 4 cars ahead of me, waiting for the lights to turn green, when the Green car smashed into me from behind.  All I can say is that we were all frightened by a loud bang from behind, and just as I turned my head to look at my kids in the back, I saw my car skidding on the wet road heading towards the car infront of me. There was no stopping and unfortunately my car struck the car infront of me :( From that point on there was alot of screaming from the kid behind, me trying to calm them, and me trying to get my husband on the phone. Even today I still cannot believe it happened. Clearly the woman who struck me from behind did not see me stopping along with the other cars, clearly she was distracted doing something else than focusing on the road. So my car was smas

When they smile... I smile

Just a gentle tug at the mouth is all it takes, To fill and make your heart break... To see their faces lit up with so much joy, And its them playing that brings smiles.. not a toy. They innocences of just lying in the grass, Makes me just want them to just stay there till the daylight lass... The cool ground beckons them to relax and stay, And there they lay just giggling and they play. What I would give to watch them like this all day, Because their smiles are precious in every way.

WW ... Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2

I went .... I saw .... I conquered :) Monday Evening: "Honey can you watch the kids tonight ... there is something VERY important I have to do?" "Sure Jill but what is it??" "You don't worry about that .... I will just be home around 7pm tonight!" It was FANTASTIC ... and the perfect end. Stephanie Meyer did an excellent job producing it. I will love this movie....

Family Traditions!!!!

If it is one thing I look forward to around this time is the Carreira's Christmas Tree Family Tradition! Founded by ME :) my sisters and my mom started visiting (or going house to house) homes to help decorate the Christmas Tree as well as decorate the home. When my son was not even a year old was when this tradition began... in my home in Port of Spain. Now 8 years later it has become a Family get together, food and drinks sharing .... and putting up the decorations. I LOVE it. Coming from a home with many siblings (3 brother and 3 sister ... most married with children) it is great when most gather and the house is filled with everyone. Lets just say it is a lot of laughs, bickering, laughs ... silent moments when our mouths are filled with food ... and then delegation on the work area. Did I mention I LOVE it. So here are some pics of the end result. My home is now filled with Christmas ... and I have to start wrapping present. :) This picture shows my mom, a

WW - Smile for me and a Smile for you...

In school we are sharing smiles to promote the virtue of Kindness. So here are a few images I would like to share that always put a smile on my face... And these should put a smile on yours.... As my good friends said ....  "Even though you are dieting....  it does not mean you cannot look at the menu!!" Enjoy.

Mom Vs Me

Sometimes I wonder if anyone sees me and actually see me. The funniest thing is most mornings I find myself picking up a torn piece of a teabag wrapping that my husband leaves nightly... and today when doing it ... I cracked up. I do not think we have trash fairies sneaking around at night picking up the rubbish he and my kids throw around... I do not think we have magical mops and brooms floating around keeping the place clean... Yet constantly I find myself picking up after the other people in my life and I wonder if they really see me. "What do you think my purpose in your life?" "Am I suppose to repeatedly pick up abandoned cups and dirty wears, snack wrappings and food ends?" "Is my job just to take after all of you?" The problem is ... I can see myself vanishing the more I see myself hustling around doing house chores, taking care of the kids, cooking meals and being the 'dutiful' wife :) So what do I do?!!! What

Anticipating Grenada!

As most mothers and parents secretly wish, Getting away without the kids is usually hard to accomplish. But this weekend my husband and I eagerly await, A vacation in Grenada for 2, we were able to create!!!! I cannot wait for the clear blue sea, I cannot wait for it to be just him and me. I cannot wait for the sunny sky, To just lie on the beach and watch the day go by. I wish for all to be able to see, How important it is for the adults to be free. To take some time and enjoy just being together, Making sure they remember why they chose to be ... forever. My countdown for Grenada is on.... 3 days to go!!!

Pray...

There are so many unsettling things happening close to home and far away that it forces you to stop and think. It forces you to stop and pray. Sometimes a moment in pray is all you need to find the strength to have faith... to believe. I remember a priest once saying God only gives you as much as you can handle.    Those who are suffering from the natural disasters and those who are suffering from pain personally inflicted on them, I pray that you find peace and know that help is never far away.

T'was the Night of Halloween

T’was the night of Halloween and all through the street, Ghouls and goblins were steering, frightening all they meet. Spider webs were hung above every door, Pumpkin heads were carved, the scariest you ever saw. The children were dressed in their favorite costume, Behaving their best, at least their parents assume. All through he night they are seen running about. “Please give me Candy!” they eagerly shout out. “Trick or treat” is what you constantly here, From a distance they can be heard, and then they are near. Knocking at your door they excitedly await to see, Exactly how many candies they get… maybe more than three. The moon shines bright and ghost hover around, Beetles and spiders are seen crawling in the ground. A scary scarecrow lurks at every path, If you are not careful, they might sneaky a stinky fart. Trough the haunted house the kids eagerly enter, They do not know what is in store as they reach to the centre. F

My Version of Fall.

I have been seeing on other blogs beautiful pictures of the ever changing and eye stimulating Fall season. Honestly living in Trinidad limits your experiences of the changing seasons and seeing how spring turns to summer to fall and then winter. All I have is endless summer greenery. All I have is the constant warm weather and lush green rain forests. So I have been living vicariously through other blog admiring the Fall pictures and sometimes questioning if it is really true. Then I had a beautiful sunny day yesterday and got to spend the day just lying on a beach and soaking in the sun. So I decided to give you all my version of Fall. And see what we get during the Fall Season. Enjoy.  I visited a beach house in Blanchisseuse Beach and it was attached to 3 different bays. It was fun just splashing in the waves, and fun exploring each bay in the warming sun. This was a bird's eye view of the bay that had clear green water and little watery caves to hide under. My son

Hate is a strong word.

When you live on a small island like I do in Trinidad, you really do not want to be too outspoken about terrible things happening to someone you know, because it is almost as if you are talking about it happening in your own backyard. But the fact is, terrible things do happen and unfortunately it sometimes happen to people you know or people who you cannot ignore. In the last month there was a unforgettable incident of a little girl being attacked and physically taken advantage of ... and this rocked out entire community. Mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, granddaughters and friends were really disturbed about the attack... because you do feel as if it has happened in your back yard! For a few weeks no one felt safe in their own homes and everyone was whispering about the ever changing rumors of the whereabouts of a man, who manage to physically hurt 1 and mentally hurt 100s. In my heart I do feel sorry for the young girl and pray that through God, family and friends she can be a
