Thankful Thursday... life's lessons.

It is amazing how you can start the day and go about your normal routine and be  completely shaken up   and scared out of your mind. This being Thankful Thursday I have to say I am thankful to be alive!!

If you have not yet heard about the drivers in Trinidad then you should. They are very reckless and inconsiderate... they do not care for anyone else on the road and their primal goal is to get to their next drop as quick as possible just to make another buck.

It makes you think that your life was put at risk for just a few dollars!!!

Basically I was heading on my normal route to work... with my son Dylan sitting beside me... and before I even know how... there was a car slamming to a complete stop infront of me... and another one being forced to a stop at the side of my car. This of course was caused my the Taxi Driver who, without caring for the oncoming traffic, pulled recklessly in front of the cars ahead of me and drove across 2 lanes to get ahead.

Fortunately no one got hurt... fortunately no one slammed into my car and inflicted pain on anyone... especially my son.

So I am thankful for me brakes!

I am thankful for my patience (because I could have lost control and used some very obscene language at that hour in the morning).

And I am thankful for just being able to respond so quickly, as well as the other drivers' ability to respond quickly to prevent a terrible accident.

Thank God for my life.

  4. Wow! Glad you and your son are ok! I had a close call yesterday whenI was out with my kids. Its totally jarring. I had to pull over and just thank God profusely that no one was hurt, weird to have you stop by after what happened to me yesterday...almost the same thing. Thank you for stopping by! I am following back on GFC!

  5. That's so scary. The gas drilling industry has recently taken over our town and the driving has been so bad with all these big trucks. There's been a lot more fatalities and we've had a few close calls ourselves with these trucks. I now rarely go anywhere unless I have to. I know how you feel.

Family Traditions!!!!

If it is one thing I look forward to around this time is the Carreira's Christmas Tree Family Tradition! Founded by ME :) my sisters and my mom started visiting (or going house to house) homes to help decorate the Christmas Tree as well as decorate the home. When my son was not even a year old was when this tradition began... in my home in Port of Spain. Now 8 years later it has become a Family get together, food and drinks sharing .... and putting up the decorations. I LOVE it. Coming from a home with many siblings (3 brother and 3 sister ... most married with children) it is great when most gather and the house is filled with everyone. Lets just say it is a lot of laughs, bickering, laughs ... silent moments when our mouths are filled with food ... and then delegation on the work area. Did I mention I LOVE it. So here are some pics of the end result. My home is now filled with Christmas ... and I have to start wrapping present. :) This picture shows my mom, a...

Guardian Angel working Overtime!!

Saturday morning this occurred while I was on my way with the kids to my family's home in San Fernando. My car is the Blue Madza and my kids were in the back seat!! I had just stopped at a traffic light with 4 cars ahead of me, waiting for the lights to turn green, when the Green car smashed into me from behind.  All I can say is that we were all frightened by a loud bang from behind, and just as I turned my head to look at my kids in the back, I saw my car skidding on the wet road heading towards the car infront of me. There was no stopping and unfortunately my car struck the car infront of me :( From that point on there was alot of screaming from the kid behind, me trying to calm them, and me trying to get my husband on the phone. Even today I still cannot believe it happened. Clearly the woman who struck me from behind did not see me stopping along with the other cars, clearly she was distracted doing something else than focusing on the road. ...

Anticipating Grenada!

As most mothers and parents secretly wish, Getting away without the kids is usually hard to accomplish. But this weekend my husband and I eagerly await, A vacation in Grenada for 2, we were able to create!!!! I cannot wait for the clear blue sea, I cannot wait for it to be just him and me. I cannot wait for the sunny sky, To just lie on the beach and watch the day go by. I wish for all to be able to see, How important it is for the adults to be free. To take some time and enjoy just being together, Making sure they remember why they chose to be ... forever. My countdown for Grenada is on.... 3 days to go!!!
